I just got back from T-Giving with the folks, more on the Vatican document on homosexuals (sorry, those with "deep-seated homosexual tendencies") in the priesthood to follow.

I got so confused what with the lead-up, blogging, false starts, leakage to Italian papers, that I just put the statement out of my mind until this morning, the long-awaited 29th. I would like to send a big hug to all our faithful gay seminarians and priests out there, in closet, out of closet, without closet, deep-seated, shallow-seated, actually bi... Hang in there, guys. And I would just like to point out that Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J., one of the greatest priest-poets of the English language (if not THE) seems to have been a chaste and faithful gay man. The poor man had a terrible time of depression and disappointment on earth...
I hope he's a saint by now. I suggest him as the patron saint of gay priests and seminarians.
